Description

The Anti-Gravity Valve (Anti-G Valve) is a pneumatic pressure-regulating valve that is both durable and responsive to the positive G-forces that are exerted on the aircraft and its crew. The aircrew blood supply will depart the head and upper extremities during heavy G-inducing maneuvers, such as a high-speed tight turn or rapid climb. G-LOC, or G-induced loss of consciousness, will eventually occur as a consequence of prolonged exposure to this condition. The Anti-G Valve detects these G-forces and permits the pressurization of the pilot’s anti-G suit abdominal and leg bladders with ECS-conditioned air, thereby preventing blood from pooling in the lower extremities. The valve automatically opens upon the release of the G-force, thereby enabling the suit pressure to return to the ambient. Most high-performance US military aircraft, as well as trainers, light attack aircraft, and combat fighters worldwide, are equipped with Essex Anti-G Valves, which are QPL-approved to MIL-V-9370, MIL-V-87223, and MIL-V-87255.
