Sodium citrate test tubes are employed to collect venous blood for coagulation testing.

Application scope: diagnostics of the hemostasis system.Venous blood is collected in test tubes containing sodium citrate for coagulation testing.
Anticoagulant: trisodium citrate dehydrate, concentration:

0,129 mol/L — 3,80% (38.0 g/L). The ratio of sodium citrate to blood is 9:1.

The anticoagulant properties of citrate are demonstrated by the formation of calcium citrate complexes with Ρa2+ ions by citrate ions, which effectively disrupts the blood clotting mechanism.

Application: diagnostics of the hemostasis system.
Citrated plasma is the specimen.Centrifugation conditions: 2000-2500 g for 15 minutes.

It is crucial to maintain the appropriate blood-to-anticoagulant ratio for the citrate sample.
The absence of citrate in the sample results in the formation of microclots and/or coagulation.

The analysis results are distorted as a result of calcium binding when there is an excess of citrate.
Gently invert the citrate tube at least five times to ensure that it is thoroughly mixed, thereby preventing the formation of a microclot, immediately following the specimen’s collection.
