The iECG completes the set of electrograms recorded in the GEA family, which includes the band-pass filtered atrial and ventricular EGMs (which support the pacemaker sensing function) and the corresponding wide-band EGMs. These EGMs enable a preliminary assessment of signal morphology and duration. The iECG enhances this feature by offering a tracing that is comparable to a surface ECG lead, resulting in a more detailed visualization of atrial activity.
It is automatically recorded in the event of tachycardia (optionally complemented by the TVI tracing) to differentiate between ventricular and supraventricular tachyarrhythmias, regardless of whether they are haemodynamically tolerated.
In SVTs, the iECG ventricular complex morphology remains unaltered. The amplitude of TVI fluctuation is reduced; however, it is consistently present at each beat.
The morphology of the ventricular complex in the iECG is significantly altered in VTs. The example illustrates a spontaneously terminated VT that was not tolerated. TVI fluctuation is eliminated in the absence of ejection and is reintroduced upon the restoration of sinus rhythm.
