Training Simulator

Heart Case offers surgical students a safe, repeatable environment in which to deliberate practice fundamental cardiac operative skills. Heart Case is a compact thorax that includes the required adult anatomy for a full sternotomy opening (approximately 5" x 7") without the bulk or cost of a full thorax. The platform is intended for training purposes and is specifically designed to meet the hands-on requirements of the cardiothoracic resident.input:

Mitral valve procedures

The use of numerous cardiothoracic trainers within the anatomical context of a sternotomy is made possible by the positionable arm and mating plates. Subsequently, it is feasible to facilitate rapid communication between users and procedures. The anatomy may be filled with fluid or air via a mating luer lock on the supporting stand for aortic and vessel anastomoses to test for "hemostasis." Suturing may be preserved and submitted to the mentoring faculty for review and progress evaluation.input:
