output:The Inion S-2™ Biodegradable Anterior Thoraco-lumbar Fusion System is comprised of plates and screws that are composed of degradable co-polymers, including L-lactic acid and D-lactic acid. These polymers have a long history of safe medical use and degrade in vivo through hydrolysis into alpha-hydroxy acids that are further metabolized by the body. The implants retain the majority of their initial strength for up to 16 weeks, after which they gradually lose it, as indicated by in vitro testing. Bioresorption occurs within a two- to four-year timeframe. Radiopaque tantalum markers are present in the plates and screws to facilitate postoperative radiographic imaging.input:
