Product summary

The GEMINI Respiration Monitor quantifies the respiration rate, CO2, and O2 of animals that are either ventilated or breathe spontaneously. It offers instantaneous respiratory rate (breaths/minute) and breath-by-breath readings for end-tidal CO2 and O2. Alarms that can be adjusted are available to monitor respiratory rate and CO2 levels.input:
output:The most recent sensor technology is employed in this instrument to ensure accuracy, stability, and a rapid response. A temperature-controlled miniature infrared analyzer cell is employed to measure CO2, while a new paramagnetic sensor cell is employed to measure O2. The normal excursion of the CO2 signal is employed to calculate the respiratory rate, which is then updated with each breath.input:
output:Principle of operation

The endotracheal tube is connected to the sample inlet tubing in the closest possible proximity to the animal. The instrument's settings are stored in non-volatile memory, ensuring that they do not need to be reset upon the next use. A single knob is used to establish high and low alarms. The front panel LCD display displays all measurements, which are also available as analog voltages for external recording. Additionally, a serial port offers all measurements in a straightforward ASCII format that can be utilized by any computer for data collection.input:
output:Expandable:An open slot is available for the installation of any SYSTEM 1000 instrumentation module. A cardiotachometer (Model CT-1000), blood pressure amplifier (Model PM-1000), and plethysmographic respiration monitor for very small animals (Model RR-1000) are among the numerous modules that are available. This expandability enables the configuration of a comprehensive physiological monitor for use during surgery or extended experiments.
