Product summary

Mycoplasma is a genus of bacteria that lack a cell wall. Penicillin and other antibiotics that target cell wall synthesis are ineffective against them due to their lack of a cell wall. Due to their diminutive size (< 1 micron), Mycoplasma are challenging to identify with a conventional microscope or to neutralize with common antibiotics. As a consequence, these robust bugs are frequently discovered as contaminants in cell culture in research laboratories. According to reports, a minimum of one-third of all cell cultures are contaminated. Regrettably, this contamination has the potential to cause cellular modifications, such as alterations in metabolism, cell growth, and chromosome aberrations. Additionally, a cell line may be destroyed by severe Mycoplasma infections. Mycoplasma testing is a critical quality control measure that guarantees the accuracy of research and the reliability of biotech products.input:
output:For effective control, PCR detection is the first line of defense.input:
output:e-Myco, eMyco plus, and eMyco VALiD The testing and detection of Mycoplasma contamination in cell cultures are significantly simplified by Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kits. By verifying the amplified DNA fragments following gel electrophoresis, the presence of contaminant Mycoplasmas can be easily and sensitively detected, resulting in the acquisition of reliable results within a few hours with PCR testing. This Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kit has been demonstrated to be a highly sensitive, specific, and rapid method for the detection of Mycoplasmas contamination in cell cultures. The five most prevalent Mycoplasma species that infect cell culture can be identified by these kits at a concentration of 10 CFU/ml (e-Myco VALiD) and 20 CFU/ml (e-Myco and e-Myco plus).
