Operating Room

The FONAR 360° ™ can be fully equipped for MRI-guided surgical and interventional procedures due to its ample space for an entire surgical team and its equipment, as well as its unrestricted 360-degreee access to the patient. The OR-360°™ (MRI Operating Room) scanner is specifically designed for this future application.

The MRI Operating Room (OR-360°™) is a full-size room with a standard eight-foot ceiling. The magnet’s two magnetic poles are situated in the center of the room. One of them extends from the ceiling, while the other from the floor, resulting in a substantial gap in which the patient is positioned. The primary structure required to contain the MRI’s powerful magnetic field is situated entirely outside of the room. In the interior, the primary magnetic field is exclusively experienced by the patient. In a spacious and relatively magnetic-free environment, the entire attending medical team operates without physical constraints. The patient may be positioned on their back, stomach, or side. The patient can be positioned at any height and angle in accordance with the surgeon’s preference and the procedure at hand using a specialized moveable bed.input:
output:Throughout history, surgeons have been required to observe more than what is immediately apparent. The use of endoscopic procedures (scopes) has been highly beneficial in this context; however, they only provide surgeons with a view of surfaces. However, surgeons are also required to have a comprehensive understanding of the tissues they are about to cut into. The surgeon is able to take the appropriate course of action with absolute confidence due to the MRI’s ability to provide 3D vision of the interior of the body with sub-millimeter resolution, which is far superior to any other modality. This is due to the exquisitely detailed images.
