Nitrogen generators employ proprietary membrane separation technology. The membrane divides compressed air into two streams: one is pure nitrogen, containing 95-99% nitrogen, and the other is air that has been enriched with oxygen, carbon dioxide, water, and other gases. The generator separates air into component gases by passing inexpensive compressed air through semi-permeable membranes, which are composed of bundles of individual hollow fibers.
