Product summary

The bottom of these 4 mL glass vials is equipped with an optically isolated oxygen sensor of the PSt5 type. The SDR SensorDish® Reader is used to extract data from this sensor. The 24-well plate, which is mounted on the reader for effortless positioning, accommodates the SensorVials. The sensor can be operated in ambient light as a result of the optical isolation. SensorVials are optimally suited for the monitoring of respiration in small aquatic organisms. They can also be used in photosynthesis experiments (up to 50% O2) when used in conjunction with the Mask for SensorVials SDR-MSV24. The mask protects the reader optics from artificial light, enabling the recording of precise optical oxygen measurements. The vials are reusable and can be cleaned with ethanol.input:

- Respiratory monitoringReal-time Monitoring of the Respiration of Marine Zooplankton

The oxygen consumption of 3-4 copepod nauplii per sample was monitored in air-tight glass vials for 6 hours. Phytoplankton was administered to the nauplii at concentrations that were consistent with the environment. The production rates of faecal pellets and feeding were estimated concurrently. The nauplii were not affected by the vessel walls or the reduction of food, as evidenced by the linear and consistent respiration rates. The respiration rate was compared to the literature values of other species. It is likely that the nauplii's increased oxygen consumption was a result of their consistent feeding.input:
