The Cairn Aura phase contrast illuminator enables the most demanding experiments to achieve true Zernike phase contrast with a working distance of up to 180 mm (clear working space!). The Aura, which is based on a concept developed by Webb et al. at the University of Nottingham, replaces the conventional condenser and phase rings with concentric rings of super-bright LEDs. The Aura is compatible with a variety of inverted research microscopes and is capable of producing the highest-quality phase contrast images with a simple alignment process. This is particularly useful for electrophysiology, live cell imaging, and multimodal time-lapse experiments. The Aura enables turn-key PhL, Ph1, and Ph2 imaging, as well as some darkfield imaging in white light or the near infrared (other colors are available upon request).input:
