Dissolution Tester Fraction Collector

The PTFC-2/8 fraction collector is compatible with any Pharma Test dissolution bath. The dissolution media is directly sampled into covered glass vials within the sampling dish of the PTFC-2/8 using a peristaltic-, syringe-, or valve-less piston pump. The PTFC-2/8 is capable of accommodating a dissolution bath with a maximum of eight vessels. The PTFC-16 is a viable option for baths that have an increased number of positions.

Sampling information, including the total number of sampling sequences and the interval timing, is either programmed at the keyboard of the connected dissolution bath or directly at the PTFC-2/8 panel, depending on the system configuration (e.g., DFC-70 systems).

The liquid flow is controlled by individual pinch valves that are connected to each vessel in a separate manner. The media is circulated within a closed loop between the dissolution vessels and the PTFC-2/8 prior to a sampling sequence. Pinch valves can be opened for sampling immediately after the media concentration has been balanced. All tubes are automatically emptied at the conclusion of a sampling sequence. The PTFC-2/8 can also automatically re-fill the sampled media by incorporating an additional set of valves and a pump with additional channels.

The following is a typical semi-automated dissolution testing system that includes a PTFC-2/8:The PTFC-2/8 fraction collector, PTFE tubing, 8-channel peristaltic pump, resident sampling probes, and PTWS 100D dissolution bath. The re-filling valve block within the PTFC-2/8 (PTFC-16 in the case of a 12 position bath) and a 16-channel pump (24-channel in the case of a 12 position bath) enable automated media refilling.
