Description
Rotaio Cervical Disc ProsthesisOne-piece prosthesis design that is posteriorly orientedThe center of rotation is subject to change.Surface tooth fixation that has been demonstrated to be effectiveThe ROTAIO® disc prosthesis was designed to meet the unique needs of the cervical spine (C3–C7). The surgical implementation of ROTAIO® is straightforward, despite the highly complex joint kinematics. The Smith–Robinson technique is employed to implant ROTAIO® in a single piece.
In order to accommodate the unique anatomy of each patient, the prosthesis is offered in a variety of heights and footprints. The C3–C7 spinal region is the location where ROTAIO® is inserted. In addition to the straightforward implantation process, the disc prosthesis’s expansive footprints optimize the contact area with the vertebral body. This serves to prevent the segment from fusing in an unwanted manner. We have maintained the endplate serrations that have been tested and proven to be effective in our RABEA® cages. This minimizes bone resection and guarantees the segment’s secure primary stabilization.
ROTAIO® aims to replicate the natural movement of a healthy intervertebral disc. This implies that the quality of movement of a natural intervertebral disc is prioritized over mere preservation. ROTAIO® therefore provides the capability of uncoupled translation, which enables physiological facet-guided segment movement, in addition to rotation, flexion/extension, and lateral bending.
