Description
Tarsus braces are available with a variety of articulation options to accommodate a broad spectrum of cases. Achilles tendon injuries are the most prevalent, and they can be employed either as a curative measure or to supplement surgical procedures. Cases of general plantar grade collapse, medial/lateral instability, or hyperextension are additional examples.
*Our ‘Progressive Dynamic Tarsus Orthosis’ can be employed as a curative solution, to provide long-term support for chronic conditions, or to enhance the outcome and prevent re-injury in conjunction with surgery. The device is articulated at the tarsus; however, a variable motion limiter is installed to regulate the extent of movement. The tarsus can be locked by setting the movement to zero, or it can be set to any of the three progressive levels of articulation. As the condition improves, this enables the gradual and controlled reintroduction of the range of movement, and with it, the strain and extension of tendons. An articulated paw section can be incorporated in severe cases, particularly when the superficial digital flexor tendon has been injured. Initially, the movement can be locked to prevent potential complications.
