Animal Research Analgesia Meter

Eddy’s Hot Plate Analgesia or Analgesio Meter is capable of conducting a rapid and precise screening of the properties of analgesic drugs on small laboratory animals. Eddy’s Hot Plate Analgesia or Analgesio Meter has been designed for the purpose of conducting hot plate pain tests. The animal is placed on top of an aluminum plate and the timer is initiated to evaluate its pain sensitivity to heat. At the instant the animal lifts its paws from the plate, the timer is halted by the operator in response to the discomfort. The animal’s resistance to pain is measured by the latency to react, which is displayed on the front panel timer.

• The plate temperature can be maintained at a specific level between 5°C above ambient and 60°C (±0.2°C).

• The test start/stop is controlled by a remote foot-switch, enabling the conduct of hands-free experiments at a rapid pace.

• The instrument has the capability to include the maximum sequence numbers, auto experiment number, and animal sex.
